I went to Vegas for the first time last September. It was an interesting experience, given that I’m not the day-drinking, pool-party-going type. I like to sleep in, order room service, watch some On Demand.. the simple things in life 🙂 Given all that, it was still an amazing trip.
We decided to book the Venetian, and I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Vegas. The room was spectacular – the suite had 2 floors, the beds were ah-mazing… I mean. absolutely everything about that suite was breathtaking.
The Venetian itself is a beauty. We decided to go to a club at least one of the nights, cause you know.. it IS Vegas, after all. After suffering through an overcrowded nightclub that was undoubtedly filled with 19 year olds w/ fake IDs, we decided to go frolic about the completely deserted Venetian. Picture 2 drunk 24 year olds running around a replica of Venice, having an impromptu – and slightly obnoxious- photoshoot at 3am. I recommend it.
Getting around – we didn’t do much of that by foot. Don’t judge – between the scorching weather, the cobblestone streets that AREN’T very friendly to your feet (especially cause none of us are wearing birkenstocks in vegas – ammirite? 😉 ) and the distances between hotels – the last thing I wanted to do was sweat my way through the entire experience. We took a cab almost everywhere – the only exception was if the line for the cabs was too long and we had to make it on time to shows. Seriously – how is uber not a thing on the strip? SIGHHH
About the food – well what is there to say about Vegas food other than it’s some of the best in the world? Truffle everything, amazing sushi, amazing room service – easily my favorite part of the trip was finally making it back to our suite after hours of running around taking drunk pictures, plopping into bed, and ordering about 15 dishes from room service.
Vegas, I miss you.
P.S for those of you who may be going for the first time – NOTE. The hotel rooms in the Venetian are impossible to beat. stay there. However, I much preferred the ambiance, style, and general feel of Paris. It’s much more people-friendly, a lot more boutique shops (the venetian is mostly Louis Vuitton and other high fashion. pretty, but not a lot of fun), and don’t get me started on the crepes. Seriously people. Spend some time in Paris (although avoid actually staying there – I hear the rooms suck 🙂 )
